With over 28 years of experience teaching piano in our local studio, I've had the joy of working with students of all ages and levels. May passion lies in helping students ages eight and up learn to read music and develop real confidence at teh piano. I'm known for my creative, flexible teaching style that adapts to each student's needs making learning both effective and enjoyable.
When I'm not teaching, you'll find me kayaking or biking during the summer months, or working on a new woodworking project. I bring the same creativity and hands-on spirit to my hobbies as I do to my teaching.
With a love for music and a passion to teach, I bring 40 years of teaching experience to the Harmony Studios staff. My main instruments are guitar and ukulele. I have worked with hundreds of students of all ages over the years. My goal is to provide my students with the best possible musical experience with their instrument and help the student reach their musical goals.
With over 28 years of experience, Janet teaches piano to students of all ages, but especially delights in working with preschoolers. Her creative and nurturing approach helps even the youngest beginners feel confident and curious at the keyboard. Outside the studio, she enjoys exploring her Norwegian heritage and family traditions. In every season, you'll find her outdoors—waterskiing, sailing, and kayaking in the summer, and snowmobiling when winter rolls in.

I’ve been an avid and eager learner of music and musical instruments since my first piano lesson at age 4. This early love of music blossomed into more than just a fun hobby and worthy area of study throughout college. It became more like that of a lifestyle: continuing over the decades to learn new things and as many instruments as possible, infusing daily events and choices as a family, jumping into (almost) every musical genre available, and submersing myself (and my 8-also musical-kids) in all the wonderous benefits music can offer the mind and heart, especially when sharing it with others. From playing classical orchestra to jazz and swing, worship music and old hymns at church to parade and circus bands, community concert bands and musical pits to accompanying soloists and singers….I love it all! I am actively involved in numerous musical groups of all kinds in the community and surrounding area, routinely playing several different instruments, and blessed to be able to participate in many of these with some of my own kiddos(now nearly all grown)….a musical mother’s dream come true! In addition, I enjoy hiking, spending time in nature, Bible studies, cooking new dishes, puzzles, watching/listening to musicals, playing games, and spending as much time as possible with family.
My desire is to help support others at any age on their own musical journey in a positive, encouraging, and non-intimidating environment, with the hope of developing a lifetime of musical enjoyment. I will teach beginners on just about any woodwind or brass instrument, as well as recorders or Irish whistles, piano, and ukulele.
I have been a voice and piano teacher for more 35 years. I enjoy teaching all ages and can’t wait to share all my experiences and techniques with my students. Also, I like to cook and share my recipes with students.
